The best time to choose your window solutions is before the walls are finished
A new build gives you something a renovation never quite can: a blank canvas. Every wall, reveal and ceiling void is still open, which means every window solution — from concealed blinds to solar-control film — can be designed in from the start instead of bolted on afterwards. The earlier you speak to us in the design and planning stage, the more options stay on the table, and the better the finished result looks.
The problem
Most people don't think about blinds or window film until the build is finished and the boxes are being unpacked. By then, the plasterers have gone, the reveals are painted, and the electrics are chased into the walls. Retrofitting at that point almost always means a compromise: a visible blind box where a concealed one would have looked seamless, brackets drilled into fresh paintwork, or a film that has to work around the glass you already have rather than being specified alongside it. None of this is a disaster, but all of it costs more time, money and finish quality than deciding early would have.
The solution: design it in, not on
Concealed blinds
Blindspace-style concealed blind boxes hide the blind and its track inside the ceiling void or a wall-mounted box, so the blind disappears completely when it's not in use — no visible headrail, no compromise on the clean lines your architect drew. The catch is timing: the box has to be built in before plastering, and its size depends on the fabric type, weight and drop of the blind you eventually choose. That means the specification conversation needs to happen at the drawing stage, not after first fix. Window film
Solar control and privacy film can technically be applied to finished glazing at any point, but it's far simpler — and often cheaper — when it's planned alongside your window and glazing specification rather than added afterwards. Choosing glass that's film-compatible from the outset avoids the coating and warranty issues that can crop up when film is fitted to the wrong glass type after the fact.
